Movie Review
Movie, movies, movies. I love movies! Rentals, Netflix, theater, downloads, new releases, cult classics, etc... And when I am home sick, that's all I want to do. Cuddle up in my king-size bed with my pillows and a good movie or 5.
Brokeback Mountain - Actually, I went to see this in the theater a week or so before I got sick. It is an excellent movie with great acting. I found the first love scene a little surprising. I knew what to expect of course, just not how it was portrayed. It was perfect, just not expected - lol. Loved it and must see, if you are not homophobic. If you are, wait for the rental. No one at the theater will want to hear your comments and/or sighs of disgust.
Underworld: Evolution - Snow weekend, just before the girls got sick, I went to see this with my brother. Do you like vampire movies? Do you like werewolf movies? Do you like vampire and werewolf movies? This movie had horrible reviews but my brother and I really liked it. Even paid money to see it and found it worth it (believe it or not). We were the only ones in our whole family to like the first one though. Excellent truck-vampire fight scene. You will probably hate it :)
Princess Diaries - Watched on DVD with the family. The girls fell asleep watching it being too tired from throwing up and dry-heaving all day long (yuck!). Bug on the chair behind me, Bean curled up next to me lying on the floor fighting her weariness all she could just to stay awake. I hate when the girls are sick but I adore the increased cuddles. The movie was excellent. Fantastic family movie. Can't wait to see the second one now.
Corpse Bride - Watched on DVD with the family. It may be a little scary for kids, but Bug liked it. Bean sat on my lap most of the time and I assured her it was ok and that it was not real. Dead people! Probably should not have let her see this one, but she made out ok. Good film. Fantastic animatronics. That's right, they were small mechanical puppets, not clay or computer graphics - astonishing. Too much damn singing though. Wish Burton would drop that.
Day of the Dead 2: Contagium - On DVD. When I am home sick in bed, give me movies! Especially horror movies... but not this one. This one sucked. But I was on a Netflix zombie kick back in October and rented tons of them. Have not even seen them all yet. Trust me though, skip this one.
28 Days Later - On DVD. I loved this movie. I originally saw it/downloaded a near-perfect DVD copy (screener) back when it was still in the theatre. English movie (I've discovered that I prefer english sci-fi and horror movies (especially if the main characters are American, which they are not in this one)). Some people did not like it, but what is scarier than zombies that move as fast as humans!
The Matador - Recently saw this in the theater. First 20 minutes are good but then it gets rather slow. For the rest of the movie, I was waiting for something, anything to happen. Very disappointing.
Transporter - DVD Loved it! Good action flick with the actor from Snatch (English guy, look him up). Excellent and enjoyable.
Transporter 2 - Ughh, disappointing. People raved over this one and I thought it kinda sucked. Fight scenes were not as good as the first, the main actor seriously needed a shave through the whole movie (looked stupid!), and the stunts were wholly unbelievable! Yes I know, some stunts from the first were not believable either but being able to jump a car and force control an upside spin in order to just graze a hanging hook to pull off the bomb attached to the underside of the car???? Give me a f'in break! But the fem bad ass in the movie was... well, bad azz!!!
So, what did you think?

6 Comments:
i too liked 28 days later. i loved the first underworld, but haven't seen the second one yet. and yes, as a guilty pleasure i enjoyed the transporter (i only saw the first one as well)
Loved Brokeback (as everyone and their dog knows by know - lol) and loved BOTH Underworld movies too.
i alwyas love hearing about others who enjoyed Underworld. thanxx for the comments.
Love Brokeback, only a crazy conservative wouldn't, IMHO.
Watching Corpse Bride soon.
28 Days Later, was one of the better things I've watched that is totally jacked up. Jacked up in the best way.
The second Princess Diaries is cute as well, and I'm sure your girls will love it. A romance movies, so predictable.
I enjoyed Underworld 2 even though I had not seen the original. I recently bought the first on DVD. I'll watch it soon.
Corpse Bride did have too much singing, but I enjoyed it very much.
I saw Matador with a bunch of guys from work. I really liked it. It was a little slow at times, but I thought that it needed to be slow to show the turmoil that he was in. I laughed my ass off at many scenes.
I thought Brokeback was amazing and had no idea Heath Ledger had that performance in him.
Underworld: Evolution wasn't as bad as the critics were making it out to be. I like vampire movies. I actually think vampires are kind of sexy..from a distance, lol.
