Black Widow

Have you ever seen a black widow spider in real life? I have. It was in the garage of my house in Texas. It was beautiful! Small (petite), black (sexy sista), big bubba-butt (just like I like'em), hourglass shape... I MEAN DESIGN! Eloquent, sexy, deadly, mmmmm.....

Unfortunately I had to kill her. I couldn't take the chance of her biting any of the cats who also frequented the garage. But I did manage to snap a couple of pictures of that dark eight-legged goddess.

Lloth?

I saw quite a few of them when I lived in Oregon. Mostly on the wildlife refuge I worked at. And come to think of it.. we never killed them.. just let them be. Even though they could have injured some of the animals we were trying to rehab? Hmm..

We get them here all the time. I spray my deck a few times a year to prevent them from nesting underneath. This is a good sized one. Nice pic.

Oh good God that's awful! I don't think we have any black widows hanging around here in NY. Hmmm. I would have passed out if I saw that. Unreal. Now I have the heebie-jeebies.

Ooooooweeeeee!!!!!!!!!

i don't mind rats or snakes or things of that nature, but i cannot 'do' ANY kind of bug (other than lady) - even ants make me have a panic attack.

however, the picture is wonderful (considering the subject matter. and a dear friend had to bring one of his dogs to a special ALLERGIST VET yesterday. she is allergic to bee AND spider bites, so it's possible your kitties could have been in trouble if you left her)

Dude, come for a visit downunder - can't step out of the house for fear of the nasties - but we exist with them - Bill Bryson's book on 'downunder' is quite humorous and very true -
I applaud you for thinking of the pussycats - :)

Beautiful and deadly, but I suppose that's part of her charm.
